I was approached towards the end of last year by Max an Italian off-roader. He told me he loved off-roading and how fantastic it was riding in Perugia Italy. I invited Max to come along to an Actiontrax event to give him an idea of what we did.
At the beginning of February this year a few friends Lee Szabo, Gary Hanson and I were invited out to Perugia to ride and see their set up (a 2 hour flight from Stansted). Nothing was too much trouble for Max from arranging a pick from the airport by Toto and his son Leonardo, to organising our accommodation for us which was 7 minutes from the airport.
We were taken to the hotel and the workshop which was next door (where they build cafe racers) .
Toto’s Enduro House was about 20 minutes from the hotel and workshop. Toto is an exceptional enduro rider. From the minute you leave Toto’s house you are in the mountains. The terrain is very similar to Romania and includes everything you could wish for, rocky climbs to forest hillsides, valleys and gullies both hard and easy routes, mountainside switchback after switchback all in wooded areas. This is some of the best riding we have ever done.
Toto was brilliant he is the national enduro champion who has lived in this region all his life. He took us on some amazing trails from lazy rolling trails with beautiful views to extreme rocky gullies and descents .
Nico Mori a top rider in Italy, can also offer training as he is more than qualified. For extreme riders this would be an excellent training venue.
Perugia and the surrounding area is amazing and has some of the most beautiful trails we have ever come across along with lovely people. We would strongly recommend this venue to all off road riders as a perfect place for a stress free mid-week break enduro holiday.
The local cuisine, in our opinion, was second to none along with our tour operators who made us feel as though we were long lost friends.
We will definitely be back.
